Brian's address

While puttting Brian's address on the last blog the computer just shut off by it's self. We have no clue why.I just realized it as I pulled up todays. So if you would like to make Brian's day ,I know he would love to recieve some mail. He can have stationery, stamps, stickers. His space is very liminated. He of course can use money orders for the commisary that he is allowed to go to once a week . please no cash or food items or anything large. He was grateful for the first round of letters but he says he hasn't recieved too many since. He graduates September 21 and it sounds like he is homesick and a little down. Brian just found out that his brother,Steve is( as we speak) on his way to Bagdad. This will affect his thoughts and consentration for the up coming examines. Thank you ,everyone who have supported him and keep him in your daily thoughts and prayers. I am so proud of his military choice. His long term goal is to become a police officer. Just the thought of becoming an officer takes courage in this world.....GO BRIAN..

Off to Boot Camp

This was a going away party for Brian. His last night before boot camp. He is currently stationed in Great Lakes, IL. He could sure use some encouragement through the mail.
I have the address if you would like to write to Brian while he is still in Basic Training.
He will be graduating on the 21st of September. He still needs our support because he hasn't been able to call but I have gotten two letters and he sounds a little discouraged. He can use stamps or money orders (no cash or food items).

Making fun

When Chellee came over for the weekend she brought over a Halloween Foam Craft that she had gotten from Michael's. After we were done with our work one night we decided to put it all together. Chellee did the pieces that were too small for me and Brye to do while we put the sticky leaves on the ground and put the tombstones and pumpkins where we wanted them, also we got to put the glitter on the moon and bats so they sparkled. It was a bit of work but when all was said and done the craft look at least as good as the picture on the box. After Chellee left I called her to tell her she forgot to take it but she said it was for me to keep. That makes me happy because I love having things my daughter and granddaughter make with their own little hands. You can see other pictures of this activity on The Taylor Family Blog on the right.

OOOooooooohh Scary

After all the garage sale things were put away and the house was back in shape Chellee and I took out all my Halloween decorations to put on display. I painted most of these decorations back in the early 80s. I have since given away certain pieces to a few of the kids but I still have a couple to keep for a while longer. Brye loved the decorations and Abbi got excited when we turned the lights off and made them glow. I told Brye the story of the trick-or-treaters and what was going on in the house. When it came time for the girls to go home I turned the house and the pumpkins towards the window so that Brye could see them from outside, she thought that was really cool.

Halloween is near

While Chellee was over with the girls we tried to get Brye even more excited about Halloween. Chellee and I had a lot of sorting and tagging to do so while we went through boxes we put on The Nightmare Before Christmas for the girls to watch. Brye had never seen the whole movie all the way through because she was always scared before when I would try to play it for her. Abbi liked all the pumpkins and got excited about Zero the dog. Brye liked the movie this time around and remembered all the characters names, the next morning she was singing one of the songs from the movie.

Garage Sale

My neighborhood was having a big garage sale and Chellee had a lot of stuff to put out so we decided to join in. Chellee came over with girls on Thursday and after Peter got off work he stayed here too. He had to leave first thing Friday morning for San Diego so he couldn't help us out with the set up of the sale. I had originally planned to have the garage sale on Friday too but after we talked about it and realized how much work we would have to do in such little time we decided to wait until Saturday, then if we had anything left we could also do it Sunday. That worked out great because we had all day Friday to set up. We got everything organized and sorted and marked so that on Saturday morning we could just pull it out to the driveway and open up shop. With both Saturday and Sunday's sales we made a lot more money than we expected. All of this stuff was just stuff that I was going to throw out, I'm happy someone wanted it. Even on Sunday I went through some boxes from the attic and marked them and put them in the sale and the items were hardly on the table before someone picked them up and bought them. We donated the left over items we didn't want to Winter Park HS and then packed and stored the other items for another day. Chellee counted out the bank and divided up the money but I had to keep an eye on her because she had that money everywhere.
